Peninsulas

We are speechless
In a state of linguistic penury
Dangling from the continent
Of syntactical specific gravity
Into a wash of inarticulateness
Hanging on by the narrow bridge
Of the speech act itself, if at all.

We are was-land, were-land
Is-land, will-land, would-land
Wood-land, main-land, plain-land,
Plane land: disembark through the bridge.
